If needed we can create a training session just for your company  to take place at the AGC office or your office. There are many possibilities, so please don't hesitate to inquire on how the AGC-GM Safety staff can meet your needs. Rough Terrain Forklift Operator Training

OSHA’s requirement for training of forklift operators is as follows:

“The employer shall ensure that each powered industrial truck operator is competent to operate a powered industrial truck safely, as demonstrated by the successful completion of the training and evaluation specified in this paragraph … Training shall consist of a combination of formal instruction (e.g., lecture, discussion, interactive computer learning, video tape, written material), practical training (demonstrations performed by the trainer and practical exercises performed by the trainee), and evaluation of the operator’s performance in the workplace.”

This basically says that prospective operators must be trained in the classroom, trained “in the seat”, and ultimately evaluated to be competent prior to operating a forklift. Our course satisfies the classroom portion of the requirements. We will also assist you in the field portion of the requirements. Topics covered include aspects pertaining to:

  • The operator

  • The equipment being used

  • The operation of that equipment

  • The environment one must endure

  • The load to be moved or lifted

  • The inspection and maintenance of the machine

The field portion is completed by the contractor with our assistance if desired. Checklists are provided for ease of review.

The classroom portion is run in one 3-hour session. Participants receive a wallet card and a certificate upon successful completion of the course.

Sessions are held at the AGC offices at 10400 Innovation Dr., Ste. 210 in Milwaukee. Registration fees are based on affiliation and membership status. Normal fees are $35 per person with non-members at $70. Corporate General Contractors can register for $25 per person.
