Competent Person Training in Scaffolding

OSHA requires that the employer ensure “that each employee who performs work while on a scaffold be trained … to recognize the hazards associated with the type of scaffold being used and to understand the procedures to control or minimize those hazards.”

The AGC offers training in this requirement, Subpart L of the OSHA standards for construction. This training covers working on scaffolds and recognizing the hazards associated with this work. Contractors involved with any type of scaffold work are urged to make sure that their people get this training.

This class is scheduled for two hours. Participants will receive handouts that will include a copy of the standard. They will also receive a card to show proof of attendance. Registration fees are based on affiliation and membership status. Normal fees are $35 per person with non-members at $70. Corporate General Contractors can register for $25 per person.
