January 7, 9, 14 & 16 – STP 7: Accident Prevention and Loss Control
This course will cover the roles and responsibilities of a construction supervisor in accident prevention and loss control. Unit 7 explores: Introduction to site safety and health management, Safety leadership, motivation, and empowerment, Planning for site safety, Site safety management, Site security and protection, Multi-employer safety, Construction risk management, Safety and Human Resources, Regulatory procedures, record keeping and documents and Using and understanding reference material and advisory resources

OSHA requires that the employer ensure “that each employee has been trained… in the following areas: Nature of fall hazards, correct procedures for the use of the various fall protection systems, the role of the employees involved in fall protection programs, and the standards involving fall protection”. In addition, special training in multiple lift rigging, connecting and controlled decking zones may also be needed. The AGC offers training in the requirements of subpart R of the OSHA standards for construction. Our program follows the nationally acclaimed training sponsored by OSHA and developed by the AGC of America.

February 7 -Oh My Aching Back: The Cost of Sprains & Strains on the Job

Ergonomics is the science of preventing soft tissue injuries. This program is intended to increase employee awareness of certain factors that may contribute to soft tissue injuries among craft workers and to suggest practices that may reduce the risk of injuries.

February 14 -NFPA 70E Arc Flash Training

NFPA ZOE is part of the recent changes and updates to the National Fire Protection Association’s Code. 70E talks about the hazards of the Arc Flash. Arc Flash can occur when tools or materials come into contact within live parts of an electrical system. The results of bright flash, intense heat and tremendous noise can cause severe injuries and even death. What precautions should be taken to avoid arc flash hazards? What should general contractors and construction managers know about their responsibilities regarding these jobsite hazards? This offering covers these hazards and what they mean to everyone on site. CEU’s are offered for Electricians.

March 4-Rough Terrain Forklift Operator Training

OSHA requires all operators to be trained. This is the classroom portion of the total training requirement for rough terrain forklifts.

March 6 – Project Manager Forum:  Project Closeout

Getting the project closed out is the ultimate goal of the contract and should not be left for the end of the job.  You need to start integrating project closeout into your daily plans.  Learn how to implement a systematic project closeout plan throughout the job.

April 22 – SLS 1: Contractors and Subcontractors Working Together to Create a Trouble-Free Job
4:30PM to 7:00PM

It is crucial to the success of a project that contractors and subcontractors function interdependently and have a single focus-to complete and deliver the contracted project to the owner’s satisfaction. On-site supervisors must understand and define their roles as representatives of their respective contractors. This workshop gives them the skills and tools to work and communicate with subcontractors to resolve conflicts before they escalate and clarify issues that should be settled on site.

The Focus Four Hazards (falls, electrocutions, struck-by’s and caught-in’s) continue to account for the greatest number of preventable fatalities in the construction industry. May 20 - SLS 2: Building Positive Relationships Between Construction Supervisors and Customers

This workshop helps supervisors identify their customers and understand their responsibilities to them. It assesses their strengths in customer relations as well as areas that need improvement. There is more to a supervisor’s job than just getting the work done on time and under budget. The job’s quality depends upon the supervisor’s ability to practice positive customer relations.

Effective Communication for the Construction Industry
